I was in Penang on the 4th day of CNY till the 7th day! This is a 2 family trip which is my family and my aunt's family. We drove to LCCT and took a flight to Penang.
To be frank I was very unwilling to go this trip because I want to have more time in Kuantan with my friends! 3 days is so not enough!
Until the very last minute I am still thinking whether there is possibilities of not going.
Gratefully this trip turned out to be an enjoying one.
My cousin brought his 2 year old baby boy along and this kid is the key of making my trip to the level of interesting. His name is Lewis or we often refer him as Wei Han. I'll be
In Penang we rented 2 cars to do the town sight seeing without paying the taxi, and with our most helpful tool - GPS!
I strongly disagree those who criticize GPS is useless and not helpful. GPS can help you efficiently wherever you want wherever you are!!! Although sometimes the signal is interrupted by tall buildings or thick cloud and caused some inconvenience in the journey (only happens in KL).
Quote from the supplier :"With GPS, you can go ANYWHERE!" (I know some of you is nodding with agreement now!)
Took this in Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf LCCT. All of us had our breakfast there.
A very pale face of mine. Result of not sleeping at the previous night.
My spec and my lappie! As you can see Im facebooking!
Bro's long long finger ;)
We reached Penang around 3pm then checked in a hotel along the Penang Road.
That evening we explored around our hotel by walking.
I read this information that Penang Road is the first road built in the British colonial era and it is main and most important road in the town. Well, the trace of history can be seen clearly. I saw aged building, old and abandoned train rails and old neighbourhood. Apparently it was a very popular, busy and prosperous area where all the business are made.
We walked down until the area around KOMTAR, which I think is the first tall building even built in Penang (so far, there's only one in Kuantan xD ).
Nothing special around the area except for this Zhou Tian Yang aquarium. This huge aquarium shop is almost like a museum. We spent more than an hour inside there. Various kind of fishes, reptiles, mammals are sold there. And also huge range of products related to aquarium.
No pictures is allowed inside there so I didn't take much. One thing amazed me in this shop is this big fish tank that has about 6 big fish in there. I first thought they are sharks but then my cousin told me it isn't.
Then I saw lot of people gathered in front of the cat, thought the cat is playing trick. Appeared that there's one pair of cat mating -.-I think the cats looked gross!
Eu Chen then led me to the section where small mammals, snakes and other reptiles are displayed together. He spent some time at the section while I was busy exploring the big fishes. What I saw is a marmot is trying to escape by digging the floor quickly and vigorously.
But...... the floor is made by glass! He'll never make it!! I saw his thing so I know it is a HE.
Anyway, I took the video and gonna post it soon!
I looked around the section, so damn horrible eh. The snake is displayed opposite the rabbits and hamsters. And their distance is about one feet wide!! The snakes must be very tempted to crawl out of its container to the hamster and mice. Big feast awaits there. Pity little rabbits, hamster and mice, have to be neighbour with their prey. Pretty sure this has scared their small heart out.
Later at night, we went to the famous hawker centre nearby Sunway Hotel.
You can get any Penang hawker food you want over there, you name it!
Although I think it is abit over-priced, but it is very delicious.
I consider the place is clean, very hawker-ish as the cement floor is rough and wet.
I didn't know this spot is famous and even marked it down in my notebook as a place we should visit after some research on internet. Was wondering why nobody ever introduce this spot on the net as it seemed so popular because there's so many customer. Some late comers have to stand aside to wait for the tables! Until later at the night, I search this thing online and the result is the same spot that I jotted down in my notebook.
Name of the hawker centre? I don't know. I don't reckon seeing any name or board except for a big green direction board "SUNWAY HOTEL <-" I simply heart the Oh-Chien! Sooooooo delicious! Just by the first bite I fell in love with it. Unlike oh-chien in melacca, they are more sticky and slimy and the taste of eggs and oyster blends together so well! Finger-licking delicious! After one big meal of hawker food, we walked to the seafood restaurant opposite the hawker centre. The adults wanted to eat crab. I refuse because the crabs were killed alive and cooked and served in front of us, like this -
Have no appetite at all.
Okay this is the end of my first day. It is short since it was only half day.
More interesting place we've visited in 2nd day. Some tourist spot along Batu Ferringhi ;)
