Frequenc music concert 2011

The theme of the concert is songs from movie of different eras. I was chosen to be in the group of 80s.

As the former Vice President, I spent every minute I can right after my last final paper until my Beijing trip to practice and involve with the preparation of this concert. I was in charge of every group's practice and that's how my time was packed.

The greatest challenge I faced is the lack of experience on organizing a music show.
"What should I do? What to start with? WHAT's WHAT!! HOW HOW!!!"
Talk is easy but to walk the talk is hard.
I was screaming and freaking out from the deep of my heart. I'm worried about the concert more than my exam because this is real, we got respond right on the spot, and ticket sales omg is it gonna cover the cost????!
I wouldn't have done it all without Vivian. She's like my mom, guiding me and solved all the problems.
Next is the inability of some performer to contribute their time for practice. Lack of practice will not give out a great show. And our audience will know for sure.
Next on challenge is the problems of musician. Firstly, helpful instrumentalist were not able to participate in this concert. So we have to dig out ppl from non-frequenC members. It takes alot of effort to look around who is able to do it in few weeks time. And we are still short of it. Secondly, the chords and flow of the song! Oh god this is tricky as we all are not professional and gotta fix it on our own.

On that day itself, there's a big challenge is how everyone will perform on stage in front of the audience. Stage fright, that's the term. Will everyone show their best? Even for me, my heart was pounding fast on stage. I couldn't speak more nor interact with the audience, all I can do is finish my task quietly. I prayed sooooo hard that everything will go with the flow!

There's some minor fault and it may not make the show perfect but I'm totally satisfied with the outcome. I mean, we're made up of amateurs.
NONE OF US MAJOR IN MUSIC! NONE OF US ARE PRO SINGER. We're studying nothing related to music (business! psychology! engineering! mass comm!). As mentioned earlier, don't expect something professional.


Ok I'm a lil bit sorry to the audience because I've heard the best one during practice.

What made this more awesome is the grow of friendship between members. Everyone gets to know what everyone has to give. The bond is much stronger now.

After the concert, most of us had this gathering at Ali Maju.
At that moment, I started to feel the emptiness. I used to think about this event every night before I sleep, and at that moment I said to myself : hey, i dont have to think about it anymore..can just chuck myself into bed and sleep.

But hey....that means I gotta start prepare to further studies at Australia. And, my last performance with them =(

Posted this on few college pages and I'm very confident that it'll do something to you as long as you are doing something to FrequenC. The commitment and contribution will pay. Just like me, what I earned is the experience and friends that money can't buy. And the preciousness of gathering everyone with the same passion to do something together.

24th June, A Night With FrequenC

Life has to go on..

I believe Lilo is now in a better place that is free from pain.

Since I'll not be around until 22nd, I'd like to inform you guys about the upcoming concert brought to you by FrequenC.

FrequenC is a music club from HELP college, formed by a group of musician and vocalist that has passion towards singing and performing. Mostly doing acoustic performance biweekly and a concert annually.

If things goes as what I've planned, I'll be leaving to University of Queensland on July. That is why I hope you guys can make it to this concert as this will be the last thing I do with FrequenC. If you've been following my blog, you know that I always perform with FrequenC every few months. I've learn so many great things and great people from the club. I met cool people with really great vocal, great guitarist, drummers, and keyboardist. What makes this club great is everyone has the same passion towards music and they love to perform.

The name of the concert is

'A Night With FrequenC'

We've been doing free performance frequently in college, so we decided to do a mini concert, selling tickets with an affordable price, preseting more than what we usually do, hoping to collect some funds to help the club to be better and greater in the future!

We named it A Night With FrequenC as we always do our performance at the daytime. Under the collaboration with RedBox & myc! ('Like' their facebook page!) we hope that you guys can spare one night of your life with us. Sit down and enjoy the music.

AND.... the exciting part is we'll be having a promotion day at 20th June (MONDAY) outside KPDA.
If you purchase ticket on that day, you can get RM10 per ticket!
Not to mention MYC! will be there to help us with the promotion and we'll be giving out free gifts!
Another essential part is, our vocalist and musician will be there to perform some short songs to you guys!

End of the concert part,

Few days back I met up with Melissa for few hours and we went for a hair cut. I got the bangs back and this will be the last photo before the hair cut!
Now, I look super childish with a chubby face!

Because of this event I went to The Curve on Sunday, and walked around at Ikano and bought Nana. =D
Fete De La Musique Malaysia is originate from a french musical festival but now an international event in popular cities.
HELP organized it and it was held in 3 different place. The Curve, Plaza Low Yat and Gurney Penang.
Each group of the performer was given a slot for about 15 minutes to perform from 10am to 10pm. FrequenC took part and the performer was Chia Wei, Ling Wei and I. We're picked or given, (not very sure how we got the venue because Vivian was the one who attended the meeting) at The Curve which is our desire venue as it is very near to where we stay!

Our time slot is 12.40pm and we're after the awesome BeatTheSystem.

Chia Wei was the guitarist, Ling Wei and I was the vocalist and Ling Wei was also the keyboardist.


Riiiight. I admitted that I didn't remember all the lyrics so I have a tiny paper on my hand.

There's a lot of great local band performed! I enjoyed every single performance and I'm so please to get to know all these bands in Malaysia.
Unfortunately I only took few pictures.

Didn't manage to take a picture of 3 of us because Ling Wei was busy taking photo with his friend. We do have one but it's in his camera.

Oh ya, I took an instant photo of us BUT it was over exposed. Our face were all white and blank -.- AIH.

I did a cover of Dream a Little Dream of Me EVERYONE PLEASE IGNORE ET'S VOICE THAT IN THE BACKGROUND!!!! GRRRRRRR!


And a duet song with Ling Wei, Falling Slowly TOTALLY OFF PITCH IN THE CHORUS. =(

The next day, there's the same event but it's in HELP Main Block Lower Foyer. Ling Wei didn't take part.

I sang one and the same song, Dream a Little Dream of Me.
Hereby, want to say a BIG thank you to MingHan for the last minute performance with ChiaWei! You guys were great!

Haha, minghan was sitting behind us and chia wei was quite worry about his song. and since minghan did this song, so we turned back and asked his help. glad that he agreed and helped us! they did john mayer's song. cool right?

I enjoyed all the performances so much.
I'm so proud of HELP for organizing this and to all the crew, EXELLENT JOB!

short visit to kL with besties

A 4 days trip to KL with harn wei and x-er!

harnwei trip is to visit around, shopping, and to meet up with her ex classmates. as for x-er is of course to accompany her darling =)

I dropped by HELP to support FrequenC's biweekly performance ! Good job everyone!



harnwei followed me to college and watched the performance too! I hope she likes it =)

After that we left and we're about to meet up with x-er and shen yee. But before that, I brought her to one of my favourite spot, Wondermilk!!

Their tray mat's design is so delecate, I took it back home, just can't resist of not owning one.
And now it's on my bed side !




We then took a Rapid KL bus to OneU. Okay, I have limited experience with RapidKL so I didn't know which one to take. So we just randomly got up to a bus which will lead us to The Curve, Damansara area. It shouldn't be passing by or stop by OneU. But then harn wei used her innocent touristy eyes to beg the driver to drop us there. Thank god he did! So we got down safely at One Utama!

So, what can 2 girls do in OneU? That is shopping!!!! We walked in Forever21 and spent hours in there. And each of us spent almost RM400 on shopping. Totally out of our budget but nevermind! We were happy and enjoyed!!
Okay I admit that night we both felt guilty.


While waiting for x-er and her darling to meet up with us, I suggested to go Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to try out their new yogurt dessert.

It was yummmmmmmy.



Hamyuzai came to joined us and we all had our dinner at Sushi Zanmai.

A little lalat drama happened in Sushi Zanmai where there's dead lalat in harnwei's steamboat. She's so cute. The first word came out from her mouth is "FUCK!" when she saw there's a dead lalat in the pot. And she already ate half of it.

In the end, the manager solved the problem by giving her a one new set, didn't charge her for that and dessert for everyone! =) well, the manager did the exactly right thing - solve the problem on the spot and over 90% this customer will come back again!


Harn Wei and I put our second night at hamyuzai aka shen yee's house. We stayed at her brother's room and totally fancied by his personal computer - the TETRABYTE DATABASE of movies. woah. we then spent our night viewing all the movies, discussing the movies, and pillow talk until.........5am. It was nice pillow talking with you harn wei =)


Didn't want to go to much on the details for these few days. Only highlight some events here =)



On the third day, we meet up with miss qiao yi and went RedBox, The Garden for K session!
Qiao Yi, glad to hear that you're happy with your life now. Enjoy and appreaciate it!
you know whatever happens, we'll always by your side.


X-er brought us to a Thai Restaurant for dinner and the food there was superb, not to mention the ambience =) I still miss the sauce of our appetizer!

We were really exhausted at the third night. But still I spent some time with shen yee, went through her interesting pictures taken in Australia and New Zealand, listened to her exciting stories and I can tell she had great fun and these memories are lifetime, she'll remember it forever. She gave me two beautiful postcard she collected from her trip. And she has an Ukulele in her room! It totally reminds me of Zee Avi!
Well, I hope I'll have the same fun as her too. Except bungee jump and sky diving, I dare not to do it, unless one day i wake up with this courage and decide to do something adventurous.


ONE MORE THING ::

I'll be performing with FrequenC at 12.45pm, 20th June 2010 (Sunday) at The Curve in Feta de la Musique ! This time, I'm performing as a vocalist. Yes, I'll sing.

This great event is organized by HELP University College and it'll be from 10am to 10pm.

20th June 2010 is Father's Day and also my dear daddy's 50th Birthday.
But I won't be there to celebrate for him. Uggggh, but I've promised to perform so I can't break it and call it off. I struggled a lot of to go to this performance or to cancel it. But at last I decided to go because dad asked me to. But I know he actually wants me to be with him during his birthday. Im so sorry dad..... I promised to perform because I thought you're able to come to KL. I didn't expect brother have to deal with school St. John and blew off the plan. Sorry dad.

Please, feel free to come and support us! There's also other great band performing that day as well. Most probably I'll be there for the whole day.

(There's two jasmine in the crew) Thank you so much Jasmine Pang for your coorperation as I informed you about this at the very last minute, I'm glad that you're willing to help me! Thank you sister, and you did a great job!!


The concert was great even though not much showed up. Here I sincerely thank you all who made it ;)

Thank you Kelly for borrowing me your beautiful skirt! I am playing my cello as well in the concert, and I don't want to wear pants. So I was asking around who have bohemian skirt and it must be long and wide! Coincidently Kelly has one and she borrow it to me without hesitation!
And thank you sze shyong for fetching me all the way to Sunway to pick up the skirt ;)



I'm in the first stage, as the role I played in the trailer. The stage where you start to fall with someone, where the love is blooming, where you start to realize that particular person is outstanding even though others may not think so.

This is my partner, Mei Chi. She sang 爱情 & 我疯你. I sang 孤单心事 & 恶作剧. Our guitarist is MingHan, keyboardist is Ling Wei, and drummer is Lawrence.


Before my turn to go on stage, I keep telling myself : Nervous are just adrenaline.
When HuiYi announced my turn, I took a deep breathe, still telling myself that line, and there I go.
Still, I can't overcome the anxious which I thought had burried deeply. It just popped out at the moment and I didn't bring out the best. *sigh*

Overall the concert was, of course, great. We got a lot of positive comments and complements.
Unfortunately we did not record the whole concert down!! Everything best are in our memories.

At the end of the day :: EVERYONE! (except for some who left earlier)

The following Friday, FrequenC is invited to join F.E.E.L. I am not sure who is the organizer as I only know Mun Kuan and her gang =D

It is an event for you to feel 5 sense. Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell and Touch.
We are performing songs so I guess we're in Hearing.

In sight, they turned off all the lights and turned on the UV lights so that everything in white or luminous will glooooow.

Zlwin Chew the illutionist did some tricks that made us gasped in surprise.

Another part that I enjoyed is where they choose 5 audience and they have to dance with the music played. hahaha. I love the first girl ;)

This concert is organized by FrequenC, a very talented music club in HELP college.

Oh ya! It is on the night of Earth Hour! Instead of wondering around don't know what to do as you have to turn off the lights and maybe electricity, why not join us and many other audience on this special and meaningful night? Beautiful songs will accompany you through the night.


Ee Loe will play her cello and will sing 2 songs on the night.

There'll be around 20 performers performing and no minus-one song will be played.
All music are played LIVE!!

We've been preparing this concert for months and spending our precious time to practice. Some of us even practice till midnight!! Not to mention the petrol they've spent to gather all the performer together to practice.
All beacuse we want to give you the best and make you feel worth it.

The concert is on 27th March (Earch Hour day) 7pm-10pm at HELP College, KPD E level 4, Jalan Dungun.

If you're driving to the venue, I don't think there'll be a problem as there is Google Map and GPS service! Click on the word 'Google Map' to get the destination point.

If you're taking public transport, hop on T634 Rapid KL from Bangsar LRT and get down in front of HELP College Jalan Dungun (infront UOA) OR U82 from KL Central!

Ya I know this weekend most of you have to go back to your hometown for the 'Qing Ming' and couldn't make it. I'm so sad when you tell me that you're not coming. =(

Well, the timing maybe not the best but we'll still give you the best!
