Who says barter system never works in this era?
Kyle Macdonald did it! With one tiny red paperclip, to a BIG HOUSE!
Few days ago, I was walking around, flipping books in Times Bookstore Pavilion, somehow this book caught my attention. So I pulled it from the bookshelf, read the intro and the words behind it.
Well, I know how the barter thing begins and ends. I know he used the power of internet to trade things online. I know he almost dumped by his gf, can't find anyjob, in the stage of "I don't know what can I do" so he started this. But I don't know what and how it happened in the process!
Like people always say : What makes thing wonderful is the process.
In this case, the time interval between begin till end is one year! So how could I miss wonderful stories like this!
I'm always interested with people like him, somehow they defined how the world should be.
He blogged this barters adventures through the years. Okay I admit I am lazy to read his blog all the way from the beginning and staring on the computer reading stories will kill my eyes.
As I've mentioned in my status, I decided to buy it!
I bought this book 'ONE RED PAPERCLIP'
Initially I decided to buy it because I want to know how he did it. Then there's an add-on reason is I want to know how much he enjoys his journey from a red paperclip to a house. I want to know how much times, efforts, determinations, bravery he had put in to success it. Of course, there's a lot of people discouraging him but he did not give up. Nothing is impossible. In the end, he made it!!!!!
Hoping this book will motivates me to be more dare to accomplish my dreams, and to encourage me to have bigger and wonderful dream.
Again, I'll sell this book after reading! Is fun to share interesting books around.
The other reason I am doin this is I have no space to keep books in my KL room. Imagine a small under table space, after filling it with a printer, text books and worksheets, how much space left for non-academic books?
Somemore there's no point of keeping the book kerana I won't read for the second time.
I promise you I will try my best to keep this book clean and looks new!
Not even a signature (I used to sign all my books even before I read it)
Selling for Rm25 ;) Original prices is RM42.90.
One question here : Will you buy a 2nd hand book if it has signature of the previous owner?
Last but not least, click on his website or blog ;)
While surfing through the website, I found out that he decided to trade his house with something else. But not sure what he got.
Will add on my after-reading comment right after I read it ! Basically there's nothing much to comment because it is based on true story, so I will only tell you whether it is interesting, or not.
P/S : I sold my The Time Travelers Wife to Melissa and this book accompanied her from Malaysia to US. I forgot to ask whether she read it in the long hour flight to US or not ;)
